According to Jim Molony of MLB.com The Dodgers tried to pry Cabrera away from the Marlins last summer when they discussed a deal that would have sent Matt Kemp, James Loney and Chad Billingsley to Florida, but the Marlins balked. The Dodgers are still interested, and Cabrera, 24, would instantly upgrade new manager Joe Torre’s 2008 lineup. If that is indeed true (and we’ll probably never know), that is where two fools met. The Dodgers were fools for offering and the Marlins were fools for not accepting! Loney will be an All-Star, Kemp may be on that same path and C-Bill is an ace! I’d give up LaRoche, Meloan, Elbert & Ethier for Cabrera and nothing more! More and more teams are loathe to trade top prospects, especially in light of what has happened this year
