LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated Juan Uribe (right hamstring strain) from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Carlos Triunfel to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Uribe last appeared in a big league game on May 20 and has hit .303 with 11 doubles, four homers and 18 RBI in 40 games with Los Angeles this season. He made five rehab starts for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and batted .316 (6-for-19) with four runs scored, two doubles and three RBI, last playing on Tuesday at High Desert (0-for-3, 6.0 innings at third base).

Triunfel appeared in seven games during his call-up, going 2-for-7 with a homer.

  1. Badger says:

It might take Uribe a while. He won’t do what Turner did as his replacement.

Some of Wainright’s pitches look like he is throwing a whiffle ball.

Puig has trouble with the curve. Especially those at his ankles. High and tight, curve in the dirt and Puig hits .200 the rest of the way. He would have an OBP of .500 if he laid off those out of the strike zone.

  2. Bobby says:

Boy what an impressive start by Beckett. Wainright had his A game going, and Beckett matched him thru 7. Too bad we couldn’t get him the win.

Now close this out, and hopefully Cincy keeps their lead so we can get to within 2 games of the trash

  3. Watford Dodger says:

I’m loving what Beckett is giving us – better than Zack at the moment! Do we make him an offer for next year?
Don’t think we need Price to be honest – for me it’s all about the pen. Sort that & we are in business.
2 games back. Was 9.5 not long ago.

  4. Badger says:

We have 3 bullpen arms at AAA that deserve a shot. Paco, Yimi and Baez have all pictured well of late. The answer could be there.

The team sure looked pleased to have Uribe back.

2 back. Could be a great summer – don’t you think?

  5. Pete M says:

What a difference a little old streak helps and a meltdown by the Gigantes…
Lets sort out the bullpen by auditions internally… Names Badger mentioned a few more hiding out there… Just Say No to Stupid Trades…
Just a good old fashioned gunfight… Beckett was lights out… Will they entertain resigning him???

  6. Roger Dodger says:

Last night was one of the best and maybe first real MLB major wins for the Dodgers this year. Great pitching by both starters. Cut down the go ahead run of the other team at home plate with a great throw (Kemp) and tag. Then the go ahead run for the Dodgers on a solid single to left. And the pen closes it out. And I think Andre caught that final out with 2 hands. Now that is baseball . . .

    • Badger says:

There were some outstanding defensive plays. I’m thinking I leave Gordon right where he is. If Guerrero comes back pounding the ball……… does he play third and become the second backup infielder? Rojas looks good to me. Maybe we use Rojas/Guerrero/Turner as part of a trade. ALL of them have value.

      Don’t you just love options?

We may have everything we need in-house.

“Just Say No to Stupid Trades” (Brother Pete)

      Amen to that.

There could be 50,000 at the Ravine tonight. I might even go if I lived there.

      I love summer.

  7. bobbie17 says:

Not that long ago, this team was folding in late innings. No more. A lot has to do with the starters going more than 4 innings. This Beckett was the one I expected and hoped for last year. Ryu and Greinke have to hold up their end now. Still looking for someone to replace Haren. As long as Beckett is dealing, that probably is not so important. How about no errors? As always, it’s the starting pitchers. Period. The Giants face 2 good pitchers this weekend, so……..

  8. Bill_Russell says:

What a difference in the defense with Rojas playing SS. Now if we had a real centerfielder to go the the strong pitching staff. Great win last night and yes please NO stupid trades.

  9. BOB says:

Nice post yesterday regarding trades. Here is my trade idea.

    David Price
Jake McGee – LH Reliever with ERA+ of 276
Ben Zobrist – Utility guy for Dodgers and real insurance in case of a major injury
#6 Nick Cuiffo Catcher ETA 2017
    Dan Haren
    Chris Perez
    Chone Figgins
    #? Paco Rodriquez ETA 2014
    #2 Joc Pederson ETA 2015
    #5 Chris Anderson ETA 2016
    #10 Pedro Baez ETA 2014
Rays get over $4 mil of salary relief and the Dodgers might throw in some more Cash
Rays season is over so why not get some average players with one year contracts to replace the players that are leaving.
Most of the Dodgers prospects project to be in MLB by next year.
Dodgers get a real catcher prospect in return

    Pitchers (with ERA+)
    1. Kershaw 159
    2. Beckett 169
    3. Price 100
    4. Greinke 123
    5. Ryu 117

    1. Jansen 87
    2. McGee 276
    3. Howell 224
    4. League 163
    5. Wright 154
    6. Wilson 75
    7. Maholm 71

    Catchers (with OPS+)
    1. Ellis 81
    2. Butera 68
    1. Gonzalez 117
    2. Gordon 103
    3. Rameriz 129
    4. Uribe 119
    5. Turner 119
    6. Zobrist 96
    1. Kemp 118
    2. Puig 157
    3. Ethier 85 Platoon
    4. Van Slyke 167 Platoon
    5. Crawford 93

Those changes might be enough to win it all

    • Badger says:

Wow. Put some work into that one.

Impressive BOB. The cash would be the closer in that deal. How much?

What happens to a Guerrero and Arru? We just hold them in the minors?

      • BOB says:

The Dodgers being moved are due about $7 mil so maybe pay their salary. Or I would also go as far as compromising and throwing Lee in the mix because I doubt that he will ever be as good as someone like Eovaldi.

G & A could be called up if more trades are done at the deadline. If they are both playing great then they would be candidates to replace Zobrist because he could be well sought after trade bait at the deadline. If Crawford and or Ethier are moved and “Mark” moves Gordon to CF then both theses guys would be needed in LA. I think my trade gives the Dodgers bench strength, injury replacement options, and future trade options.

81 games played and on pace for 90 wins. A month ago everyone would be happy with that news.

  10. BOB says:

The Dodgers need to win the series with the Cardinals not just to affect them mentally but because the Cardinals are missing so many starting pitchers and losing to them will not bode well when the Cardinals are at full strength during the playoffs. Wacha, Garcia, and Kelly all on the DL, and Miller with a bad back.

Game 1 – Two hot pitchers resulting in a low scoring game as hoped for. Dodger win a low scoring game because they are turning the corner.
Game 2 – Ryu versus a scrub. The LAD must win tonight
Game 3 – Cold Greinke and a hot Lynn — Probable loss.
Game 4 – Red Hot Kershaw (Who needs to redeem himself from last year’s final game) against Miller with a bad back or Gonzales with an ERA of 9.00? A must win.

9 games over .500 and now only 2 games back while surging!

    • Badger says:

3 of 4 would be great, which means 2 of 3. Tonight looks to be a good opp to get the second W but we have a way of bringing out the best in mediocre pitchers.

  11. Badger says:

“The Dodgers have been telling teams that they won’t move Joc Pederson or Corey Seager this summer, according to Stark. If that’s indeed the case, that should take them out of the running for David Price (in my opinion).” Jayson Stark

I think the conversation begins with asking for both of them and ends if the offer is neither.

Hey Mark, the wife just asked me if the tornados were near you. I had no answer. All ok?
