I would platoon Uribe and Schumaker at 3B, send Cruz back to AAA and call up Casty.  Scott Van Slyke is not on the 40-man roster, but is OPS’ing 1.400 leading me to believe aliens have taken over his body.

Drop Herrera, LAD has 5 of him already, and add SVS

Magill – Not ready yet, too many BBs

    Amezaga – .429 BA!

Lee – Will not be 22 until September 13. Birthday present of pitching in MLB would be nice!

    Last 7 days with a 3-3 record

    Gonzo .214
    Ethier .174
    Uribe .167
    Hairston .133
    Crawford .105
    Schumaker 0.91
    Cruz .000 6 AB
    Hernandez .000 9 AB

While is half of this team always so BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!

  2. HemmorhoidRage says:

At least Kemp has finally started to get a few hits. The numbers for our batters is beyond hideous.

I thought SVS should have made the club out of ST.

Cruz has to go. Sellers has to go. Dee Gordon deserves a shot and the fans deserve his shot.

Dave was born a Ramblin’ Man. (yes that was the original title of the famous Allman Brothers song)

  3. Badger says:

As good as some of those young MAY be, none of those you listed shows up in the top 50 of any MLB prospect list. Our top guy, Puig, comes in around 42 and there are several players on that list I would trade him for today.

I think a platoon of Schu and U is a solid idea. Neither are everyday players…. so there’s an attempt at solution. And how does anyone have an .890 OPS with a .190 BA? UUUUUU…. REEEEEBAAYY!

Cruz has, so far, proven to be even less than I thought he was going to be….. which was not much.

I still like Sellers. Southern Cal dirt bag, but, this team needs so much more than him. If he could only hit .250 we could use him.

  4. jerry says:

if these guy are so bad…what has the hitting coach been do .NOTHING. when he coached st.louis..mybe those guy could already hit..so one wrote that here already

  5. Badger says:

Anybody remember who are top picks were in 2011? I had to look.

Arizona’s top picks for that year have already netted them two pretty good players on the team now – Didi Gregorius and Tony Sipp (for Bauer) Also in that 2011 draft was one Archie Bradley and wait til you see this kid at the ML level. I watched him in ST last year and he looks and throws like a young Roger Clemens – 6’4″ 225 lbs and throws in the high 90′s. He is a no doubt front of the rotation pitcher.

Anyone seen Gregorius play yet? I have. He is everything we had hoped Dee Gordon would be only with more power and a much better arm.

Kevin Towers. You gotta watch that guy. He’s the man who actually took the San Diego Padres to the play-offs.

  6. Bobbie17 says:

Things are bad at the major league level when we talk of the minors. How about the horrible late inning relief pitching across the majors? Only a few teams have reliable 8 and 9 inning guys, and they are the ones who will be playing in November. That is the D’backs weakness right now. If they get that figured out, look out. The Dodgers’ pitching is weak from #3 to closer. Beckett remains a key, but so far……I still like Paco, but he probably needs to learn to pitch out of the strike zone more. His control might be too good. Forget the ratings by the publications. In pitching, the stat is BA against, walks per 9 innings, and era. The publications don’t know anymore than we do. The current stats tell it all. Magill has been pretty good for a while, so bring him up and see what he can do. This is the time of the season to do it.

    • Dave says:

your right bobbie if there gonna teach guys, nows the time to do it its early cant be any worse than whats allready on the table !!!!!

  7. Dave says:

ken its not that there bad this game presents many varibles at each level each guy hast to adjust , hone his craft, some adjust better than others the time in each level presents the challenge , the trick is between the ears of understanding where your gains and losses for a positive yield are it aint easy, baseball from aa on up requires intelligent inventory between the ears and the heart of a lion , its just damn tuff , guys get on a role , get out of a role , get little tweak injuries that they play through just a very demanding game, as long as your moving forward with inventory within yourself its good but remember theres false indicators theres things that look good on paper but really in the mind there struggling with i see all kinds of crafts in guys that they work on the main key is heart ill say it a thousand times its the seperator and command in the zone pitching and batting to focus focus ability to read your advantage on the challenge your presented longterm and each pitch and at bat its always being refined and understood damn i love this game, it aint for every one to really grow at because youve got to have the shortest memory to survive at each pitch and at bat yes a oxy moron but thats why its so damn tuff, im a feel guy always have been a gut guy i feel the game i dont watch the game it directs the truth of the game thats how you respect it ! i see guys on roles but its one dimentional withrow found a break through within him self but its a battle within others have there craft but are multitasking crafting to a different level say refining alot of pitches with is good now but there will be an area hill get hurt on its the nature of the beast, ill shut up i was a football guy but this game is very very mental only the strong survive ! i love this game cant get enough !

    • Badger says:

Won’t argue any of that Dave.

We have a good, very solid, core at the ML level. What we need are those periphery players that make the difference in those tough, close, often times must win games. The name Scutaro comes to mind. If Hairston, Punto, Schumaker, Gordon, Sellers….. (who am I leaving out) could step up and get that key hit now and then, we will win considerably more than we lose. It’s a long season, and we have arguably the best team in the NL. The odds makers sure thought so at the beginning of the year. And I still do.

It’s early. It will be early until the deadline. Stay close, stay cool, get your balance and move forward within the division.

  8. Dave says:

propaganda is just that useless !! stick to the dirt bag guys, remember thats how you win battles !!!!

  9. Dave says:

ya just haft to go to war and battle the breaks will come, it can only go up from here , play the game , itll come to us just play !

  10. HemmorhoidRage says:

the dodgers are team owned rich owners that aren’t love the game they love money they will makes money and are do the get of players which doesn’t isn’t to take required what it takes of pizza pepperoni be there are favorite especially monday knight football on abc jon gruden are me favorite tough guy who love is game to like now we need some guys who love pizza and game of football or baseball as much thry dirnk beer while watching world series we have heart but need more beer and pistachios in order to win games late i love pistachios and cashews and salted peanuts when ever possible to have on nights there are games on tv like football baseball tennis and operation repo those are what america needs the most and i for one can live without pizza unless my favorite sports are on then pizza and salad are absolutely mandatory you guys like wipeout

  11. RogerCraig says:

I think hemorrhoid is an apt name for the jerk. He is always fighting or belittling others to make himself feel superior. He ruins it for a lot of us.

  12. KEN says:

Run on sentences can be funny, sometimes.

Still going to Two Things when I enter the website.

  13. Dave says:

its a blog for gosh sakes, figure it out ! rhoid if your listening no harm no foul im a pretty easy goin guy, i understand if your having a bad day your entitled to 1 of those a year but no more. get back in the ballgame its ok !

  14. Quasimodo says:

Seems the mood would be a bit better after a win. I thought it was just me but discontent is in the air. Well, maybe lets try switching topic to Becket. Yeah, Becket is kind of a tough subject to change to but I’ll give it a try…..This ones his! Crawford and M. Ellis will both make it to home via Kemp double. Gonzo advances Kemp to 3B then Ethier drives 3 run homer all in the 1st. no outs!……Cheers friends!

  15. Quasimodo says:

Oops! I kinda left out Becket.

  16. Quasimodo says:

I really hope I’m not the reason Bill Russel hasn’t been around since I put him on the spot to identify his namesake. It was really cool of him to give part in this tight knitted site. Its pretty amazing really how Marks site here holds so much quality and remains almost private. With that said, Thanks guys for excepting me.

  17. Badger says:

Excepting you? But we don’t quas. We include you! Except of course when we don’t. (I did that so roid wouldn’t jump on into it)

Sometimes communication can get stalled by anal dissimulations, but if you look past the typing errors, and we all have them (edit please) the communication is there, and around here I find it mostly valid. Good baseball people hanging here. It wasn’t always like that. (OD)

I keep waiting to read some “quick hits” on the Dodgers at Rumors, and so far……….. nuthin’. Doesn’t it seem like a move is imminent?

  18. Quasimodo says:

Yes Badger. I had been told we may have something in the works with Cardinals. But its hard for me to see they’d let Freese slip away. But that’s the target I was told of. I read @ TBLA about Cruz or Sellers being sent down when HanRam returns and there’s a fair argument that trip ticket could be for Cruz. Damn! We need this series to be at .500 and a sweep to be above. One step up, two steps back sure ain’t gonna work.

  19. HemmorhoidRage says:

Ooops, I just forgot my punctuation, I thought that was cool and acceptable, I guess for others.

  20. Quasimodo says:

You are my friend, Rage. We all have a little Freddy Krueger in us.

  21. HemmorhoidRage says:

I’m naughty sometimes I admit, but they all know that I just said what they were thinking (didn’t have the balls to post).

    I’m a ramblin’ guy. R A M B L I N apostrophe. Can you name the comic?

    • Dave says:

its all right roid love guys like you, whenever i can theyll be high and in at the chin , id make quentin look like a puppy, respect the game !

  22. Badger says:

It doesn’t take balls to act like an ass.

  23. HemmorhoidRage says:

I bow to your expertise, lol

    • Badger says:

Good. And as long as you are on your knees, I’ll place the ass hat on your head.

You can redeem yourself with something humble, or even something funny.

      You’re up.

  24. Mark_Timmons says:

Stephen Glenn Martin, to be exact and he is not acting, Badger.

  25. Bill Russell says:

Bill Russell still views the site almost daily, however not too much time to comment right now. I’ve had my hands full lately. Peace to all. Where is the Roid hiding?

  26. Bill Russell says:

Bob Seger is a Rambling Gambling Man or at least he sings about it.

  27. HemmorhoidRage says:

You got it right Billy, Steve Martin it is.

    • Dave says:

Ya know rhoid im a blessed man i have 2 boys in pro ball theres alot of things people dont understand about this game , and theres alot in side me that wants to hear some good solid input about what they think and feel about the game i enjoy that , and so do others.Im sorry my thought process and typing skills and input is some threat to you, show some damn respect for yourself let alone anyone else ! You see i never give up on people cause i care , you can try doing it for yourself some time, hell id love to sit down and have a beer some time and talk baseball, or is this blog a mask for your inability to communicate, show respect and thought for the game. I get too hear an feel some things that cross my mind about whats coming up for both my boys theres lots of great input, i love it just try to get along and every thing is good but if you feel the need to sling mud for your amusement ill respect the self serving amusement for you, cause its rhoid , damn i love it when i ramble heck i think ill change my name to ramblin man just for you rhoid ! happy blogging ! ramblin man !!!!!!

  28. Dave says:

its all right badger ive talked to many umpires in my day with that attitude , if ya havent really played the game how ya gonna know how to really direct the correct call !!!!!

    • Badger says:

Good point. But I think I got that call right.

There is a game being played. Another 5 inning pitcher for the Dodgers tonight. Sure would be nice to see a complete game now and then. If not that, how about getting the team to the 8th?

  29. Badger says:

In 5 starts Beckett has gone 6 or less 4 times. 4.75 ERA. Pitching kinda like a #5. And not a particularly good #5. Would like to see at least 6+ innings out of every starter, and an ERA at our under 4 from all of them. But, as you know, I am somewhat demanding.

  30. Bball says:

Badger to bring up your point from a few days ago. 44,000 tonight y cause no giveaway. Sat and Sunday good giveaways look for more people in the stands. And then watch Mondays attendance. No giveaway. Tuesday another good giveaway. I guess proving my point that the promotions are bringing them in. I guess we shall see

  31. Bball says:

Didn’t mean to sound like 44,000 is bad but tomorrow will be a sellout as well as tuesday

  32. Dave says:

belisario nutted up there in the 8th , stayed with that cut , now jansen or league ?

  33. Dave says:

hes just struggling with consistency on that split , nasty as heck but he hast to control the depth hes just not feeling it so well right now, not many throw it that nasty, tricky pitch to control. Guys would kill to have that much bite natural arm slot for him , just hast to control it better and dangerous as hell with guys on !

    • Badger says:

I remember Dreifort had the same problem. Nasty splitter that missed way too often. League will find it.

Sellers! My man contributes late. As long as he can do that, we are better.

44,930 Bball. Yeah, that’s not a full house, but we are averaging 46,900 so it’s not that far off. That’s on course for 3.8 million. That’s pretty good. If we are in all the way, and start winning games like we did last night, we might actually reach 4 million. It’s possible.

I didn’t see the game but reading the recap tells me others contributed. Punto, Cruz, Sellers and Hairston all with runs or ribbies. That’s what it is going to take.

  34. HemmorhoidRage says:

Okay Dave, I was a little too harsh and shouldn’t have been. I was thinking that maybe you were joking with your posts, but I must have misinterpreted. They are your honest posts. I’ll be a kinder and gentler Rage. My apologies.

Badger, your hat doesn’t fit me, you’ll have to hang onto it since you went to all the trouble to break it in for so many years, lol.

Steve Martin, when I was a teenager, saw him in Berkeley on his Let’s Get Small tour. Funny stuff, and he still is the real Ramblin’ Guy.

    • Badger says:

All right. Fair attempt. Had to get one dig in on me, but I can take it. But, you were rude to Dave, so, it’s really up to him.

I’ll keep the hat at the ready though.

Steve Martin has moved a LONG way from the Ramblin’ Guy days. I kinda wish he hadn’t. Don’t care much for his movies anymore. His band is pretty cool though. His books are ok. It was his stand-up that I really liked. Very different.

    • 1000OaksDave says:

I actually laughed so hard reading your post that I aggravated a pulled muscle in my upper back. Now I can’t go camping overnight as I had planned and can’t complete the honey-do list my wife shoved at me (all those stupid things she wanted done before I left for camping). I’m in for a lousy weekend at home now. Thought I was going to make the wife happy. Now my wife is pissed, my friends are pissed (I have the boat for the early morning fishing we were going to do at Lake Casitas) and my dog is pissed cause now he’s stuck at home picking up on all the bad vibes instead of chasing squirrels at the campsite. Look at all the trouble you caused roidrage. Did I mention that I’m miserable? Thanks a lot.

      • 1000OaksDave says:

Dave, I was going to type all of that as a run-on sentence but chose not to pile on. It can be difficult to follow what you post, but that’s usually because I’ve had a few drinks at night when I read them.

  35. Quasimodo says:

Good morning men, Giants losing and Dodgers at the clean slate of .500 makes it so. Well its also the birds chirping outside on this still, warm, new day. But damn, for whom the DL tolls. If this keeps up free agents won’t consider Dodgers for reasons of odds they’ll get hurt. M. Ellis will heal quick likely. Last year he got back quickly enough. Again we get shown Giants are not our biggest enemy. Its the goddamn DL. Who made the deal with the devil?

    • Badger says:

What have I been trying to tell you about Mark Ellis? The man hasn’t played 150 games in a long time. He is projected for around 100 this year – maybe as many as 120. He is a back-up. We still need an every day starting second baseman on this team. In fact, all of the infield positions other than first look a little off to me.

Maybe this ownership should look into a new training staff, and a mandatory sensible off season program. You want to come to L.A., make the big bucks, play in the post-season, you need to make a commitment. And perhaps that commitment means you don’t play in any meaningless WBC tournament. I am fine with that.

  36. Roger Dodger says:

    Looking at the stats . . .

Dodgers are 11th in team batting average at .252. #1 = Rockies at .279 and #30 = Marlins at .222.

    HRs. Dodgers are #24 with 14. #1 is Atlanta with 35. #30 = the Marlins with 7.

    RBIs. Dodgers are 27th with 70. #1 is Oakland with 119. #30 = Marlins again with 57.

I see Hanley helping the Dodger numbers when he comes back, but not changing these total that much. This team needs better hitting.

How much are they paying Big Mac to be the hitting coach? Or, we just do not have that good of hitters !!!

Notice that A. Gonzales has two doubles of late that were in and out or off of gloves in the outfield — both helped Dodger wins. He is lucky there.

So after 22 games. The lead on HRs for the Dodgers is a tie, with five players having only 2 HRs each: Crawford, Mark Ellis, Ethier, Gonzales, and Uribe.

  37. SpokaneBob says:

How about we dfa Ramon Hernandez and play Fedex twice a week. Hernandez can’t catch and can’t hit unless its into a double play to kill an inning. All he has is what hes done in the past. Fedex would be a better bat off the bench and the extra rest would serve Ellis well late in the year and hopefully in the post season.

The Yanks and Cano are far apart of money. We can have our everyday secondbaseman for a mere 200 million. I say go for it!

  38. SpokaneBob says:

    I wish we could edit.

  39. Broxton's Bunny Soul says:

Fife to DL. Magill starting and making debut tonight

  40. Roger Dodger says:

Say, I think I will go on the DL. Are there any bennies with that move? Does it come with butler service?

  41. HemmorhoidRage says:

Bennies are now know as Meth, you don’t want that stuff, or do you? lol

Sorry for messing up your camping trip, 1000oaksDave, I knew there were some other sickos out there (there are others that have remained silent as well) that would get a chuckle at the lockerroom humor, you sick bastard! Can’t you claim your back is too injured to do the Honey-do list?

  42. Quasimodo says:

I think Magill just maybe will be impressive tonight. He also seems fairly durable-probably at must with the ways are going. 9 starters at this early stage-wtf??? How’s that even possible? At any rate, I don’t think Brewers will get through this series alive.

  43. KEN says:

Wow that is an ugly uniform that the Brewers have.

Then again that is an ugly lineup that the dodgers have.

    crrrrap

  44. Dave says:

Ya see 1000oaksdave gotta love this game, ya never no when a guy will get put on the dl. Hope you enjoyed the feedback! Momma will get over it, whats even funnier, guy on the dl caused all your problems on a damn blog site! Hell the wife would really be pissed if she understood that. Ole matty magill pitched one hell of a game tonight hes my kids roommate in alb, true shame we couldnt get that one for him and blue, just remember when the rage is in the cage be careful what you read ! Hope ya get feeling better !

  45. Dave says:

Heck badger you know better to loan your hat to a guy with a swollen head , especially if its stuck up his ass !
