Worst Hitting Team in Baseball?

The Dodgers have been shutout 10 times!  If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you will get what you’ve always got.  Unless you are truly insane, you have to start by ditching the current hitting coach.  Maybe it’s not his fault entirely, but he’s not blameless.  It’s late in the year to do that, but you have to man up and get it done if you want this team to make the playoffs.  Changes have to be made, including letting Uribe walk the plank. There seems to be a problem with our hitting coach and LH hitters.  Think about it – look at the stats.  Somehow he isn’t able to help them…

What a waste – the Dodgers should be in first place, but couldn’t beat the Little Sisters of the Poor.

That’s all I have to say about it.  Ned and Stan need to fix it before it is too late.   Hey Stan, it’s nice you want to renovate Dodger Stadium.  Great.  I dig it, but hire someone to renovate the hitting.  Do it now!

Dodger News:

  • Capuano righted his ship, pitched a strong 7 innings and should have won.  It was a quality start.  Fear the beard!
  • Zach Lee – 6 IP, 4 Hits, 0 Runs, 0 Walks, 3 K’s.  That’s better…
  • Yasiel Puig 2-2 last night.  Move him up to AA, forget  A-Ball.
  • Corey Seager was 3-7 last night, after going 4-4 with 2 HR on Sunday and 3-6 with a HR on Saturday.  He’s starting to figure it out evidently.
  • Harang goes tonight on 7 days rest.  Hopefully he can pitch well and hit .
  • Are all of the Dodger starters bearded?   Maybe all the hitters should grow beards too.  Nah, just grow a pair!

The Rockies are dead last in the NL in pitching. Their staff has a total of 2 shutouts this year and one of them was against us last night.

But, all three teams lost last night. Tee it up again today.

Man this team is frustrating. Are they going to end up right where I thought they would with 85 wins? I sure hope not.

    First place Reds have
    Broxton 0.00
    Paul .381
    Navarro .000

    Dodgers have Rameriz .217
    Victorino .190
    League 9.00
    Choate 6.23

    Good job NED!

I agree with everything that Mark said that repeated what I have said this week :)

Dodger hitters. There are too many pull hitters that can not hit breaking balls. It does not matter that some of the “Dead pull” hitters hit balls to the opposite field every once in a while. That is not the issue. The problem is that it is soooooo obvious that too many of the Dodger hitters are not hitting the ball where it is pitched. If a pitch looks like it is going to be inside or down the middle than the Dodger hitters try to pull the pitch. Then to no ones surprise the pitch ends up being a slider down and away and the result is a ground out. Start hitting the pitch back up the middle and then adjust from that approach depending upon where eventual location not the initial location. This is a player problem first and when allowed to continue bnecomes a coach’s problem. If the players are not being taught how to hit correctly then fire the coach. If the players refuse to take advice then bench the players. DFA two players in August.

Mark, it has happened again, the third time. I post a remark, and i get ‘dotDefender blocked your request . . . and then they give a number.”

I tried cutting and pasting the message, but that gets blocked.

Just to have others here say, “I am posting fine” does not help. This is the 3rd time some control is too tight, or a word is wrong, or you are shutting some of us down and out . . .

i believe that coaches at this level is a waste of time.pitching coaches go out and talk to the pitche..he come back and nothing changes..same as hitting coaches..they change thing ..and the hitter gets worse, just my opinion..

  5. Rob says:

Time for Donnie to have a motivational speech and fire these boys up. I think they are assuming they will win games in which they should win and it backfires. They didn’t really blow away the cubs like they should have and now the shutout against the bad news bears of the pitching world. The talent is there but everyone is looking at the person next to them to provide the spark. Time to man up and win these games because the schedule doesn’t get any easier!

    • Badger says:

I agree Rob. This whole team needs to step in there and get ugly with it. Stop going after pitchers pitches and act like you know what the ef you are doing in there. Kemp can’t get a HR every time up. Take it upon yourself to get the big hit.

This is a team game people. Every one of you has to come through from here on out.

Jerry Sands….. this is your time dude. You have done all you can at AAA. You want to play at this level, it is time you show you belong.

  6. El_Che says:

Yasiel Puig played in a double header yesterday and hit a homerun too.

  8. Michael says:

What does the 3rd base coach do before the game? Practice waving guys home? Tim Wallach would be someone who could teach these numbskulls how to drive the ball. Time for a change.

  9. Badger says:

What change? Take a look at the career numbers for all these guys and tell me what a hitting coach is supposed to do with them? We only have a few real professional hitters on this team.

What needs to happen is the clutch hit. What needs to happen is these .250 hitters, and we have a bunch of them, need to lay off pitches out of the strike zone and square up mistakes. What needs to happen is every single Dodger needs to stop giving away outs. As a hitting coach, that’s about all that could be said.

Victorino, Kemp, Ethier and Ramirez need to start hitting as a foursome. If those guys get hot, AJ will get his, Loney will get a few and the team should score enough to keep them in games.

  10. Kevin says:

Hanley looks LOST at the plate. Besides getting lucky and hitting that hanging slider out in SF I haven’t been impressed. Of course he’s still better than anything else we’ve got.

  11. Ken says:

To answer your question – YES!
    7-day lineup – Gawd awful

As a reminder Uribe hit .190 in the last 10 games that he played.

    Victorino .190
    Hairston .000
    Kemp .318
    Ethier .200
    Rameriz .143
    Loney .231 (3rd best!)
    Cruz .200
    AJ Ellis .400 (#1 hitting 8th)
    Harang N/A
