  3. Bluenose Dodger says:

They need him to play SS in the minors – Gordon. Sellers, Cruz – all injured or with the Dodgers. Martinez will report to the minors.

  4. Roger Dodger says:

I won’t be able to sleep tonight thinking about just what position in the batting order will Osvaldo have when he is called up in about two weeks.

  5. Bobby says:

id rather trade him back to Miami for Ozzie Guillen, and let Ozzie hit for us.

This deal is not even worth mentioning

  6. Joe says:

We need as many light hitting infeilders we can get.

Let me climb up to a Grassy Knoll and see if he is a jewel like a Ruby.

  11. ken says:

Is he another 2B that can play multiple positions?

  12. ken says:

No just another SS that can’t hit!

.234 against LHP and .153 against RHP.

He was good through 2010 but now DFA material.

A rejuvenated Kevin Youkilis won his second career American League Player of the Week Award on Monday after helping lead the White Sox to five victories in just his second week with the club.
Youkilis hit a scorching .478 (11-for-23) with three homers and 10 RBIs last week and also accounted for the game-winning RBIs in four straight games from July 4-7.

After notching a walk-off RBI single on July 4, Youkilis snapped a 1-1 tie with a sixth-inning homer that proved to be the difference one day later. On July 6, he drove in the eventual game-winner with a sixth-inning single, and he then delivered a two-run homer in a 2-0 victory the following day.

Youkilis, who was acquired from the Red Sox in a June 24 trade, notched at least one hit and one RBI in each of his six games last week and has currently done so in seven straight overall. That active seven-game streak is tied with teammate A.J. Pierzynski for the third-longest by any player in the Majors this season.
In his 13 games since joining the White Sox, Youkilis is hitting .347 (17-for-49) with three home runs, 14 RBIs and nine runs scored.

  13. The Bunny Rabbit inside Broxton's Soul says:

There’s no proof he would’ve hit like he has had we traded for him. Different league, different pitchers, different schedules, different ballparks.

Considering how unfailingly mediocre he’s been the past two years, how injury prone he’s been the past two years…. I would’ve been okay with taking a chance, but not to upset if we passed, regardless of well he’s hitting now

  14. Badger says:

He hasn’t ever been mediocre – unless you count half a year this year. The injuries, well yeah, he has had a nagging back problem, but, he hasn’t lost that much time with it.

I got a feeling it was his decision to not come this far west. He is right where he belongs, and where he wants to be. Not every player loves Los Angeles and there are a lot of players who don’t want to come west.

I find it disturbing that we evidently don’t have anyone in the organization that can be promoted to SS at AAA. I mean, what difference does it make who plays there? I would hope the AA SS, whoever they are, could put up Osvaldo numbers if he had to be called up in an emergency. To see that this move is what makes the MLB Rumor page is embarrassing.

Last three years… missed a ton of games and hr’s rbi’s and batting average have plummeted from when he was great. Definite cause for concern
