“I will give you James Loney and Juan Uribe and pay all their 2012 salaries, AND Shawn Tolleson AND Zach Lee AND Jerry Sands for Carlos Quentin and Chase Headley. Shoot, I will throw in Josh Lindblom, if need be. You have to make the decision now. Take it or leave it!”
New Lineup:
- Gordon SS
- Ellis 2B
- Kemp CF
- Ethier RF
- Quentin LF
- Headley 3B
- Rivera/Abreu 1B
- Ellis C
That Dog Will Hunt!
OK, pile on!

I’d start with Alan Webster or one of non-Zack Lee guys.
Lee should be used to acquire a stud, not two solid pieces
I’d try and get K Morales from the Angels and have him at 1b for the next few years before I went after those two Padres…
Do you think the Angels would part with him? If so, I’m in…
Hey how about some free passwords to your site?
Glad to see you still remember us “little people.”
If you want to do it swiftly. It will take Lee. Lee is a prospect. That’s all. A good one. The Dodgers #1 Prospect. We have no clue what he will be. He’s no Kershaw, that’s for sure. Make an offer and do it quickly.
I don’t know why anybody would want 3 guys that can’t hit
Duhhhhh…
The Dodgers would be paying their salary and it’s the prospects they want.
Duuuuuuhhhhhhh…
Pipe dream
Put down the crack pipe.
This is not fantasy baseball, ok.. Not ONE GM in MLB would take on Uribe & Loney for a guy(Headley) who’s young @28 and will have 2 reasonable arbitration years in ’13-’14… IF, Byrnes listens to offers for Headley he’s going to want 2-3 stud prospects.. Dodgers have 2, that’s TWO top 100 prospects list in Lee & Webster ( who has struggled this year in AA, 2-7, 4.74 era)… we have ONE big chip in a deal right now and that’s Lee…
Zach lee, Chris reed, Billingsley and Alex castellanos, for Cargo and marco scutaro. You then have the offense. plus ellis and lemp coming back. You give up alot but cargo is cheap and an all around player.
1. dee
2. ellis
3. kemp
4. cargo
5. either
6. uribe
7. loney
8. ellis
Kershaw
Lilly
Capuano
Eovaldi
Harang (Hopefully RDLR comes back sooner than later)
Maybe even pick up Volquez from the padres?
Like?
Since the position players no longer know how to get on base they should try a new tactic.
Swing earlier in the count.
When the count is 0-0; 1-0; 0-1; 2-0; 1-1, and 0-2 the Dodgers are hitting .313
When the count is 2-1; 3-0; 1-2; 3-1; 2-2; 3-2 they are hitting .202
Maybe a little change of approach might work. Is any one else tired of watching these guys take the first pitch fastball right down the middle and then be behind in the count and then swing at breaking balls in the dirt? Being the best in MLB when the count is 0-2 is cool but not if they are hitting .205.
Swing early swing often.
Quentin is hitting .263 in June and .063 last week. He would fit in nicely with this Dodger team.
Padres just called up their 13th starter for 2012 and his name is Kip Wells. Could we play the Padres tommorrow? Please?
Padres do not need Loney. However, if they traded Headley then they would need a 3B for 1-2 years until their #60 prospect makes the Team.
The Padres have 7 players in the Top 100 Propspects list but they need MLB players now. Dodgers have ONE.
They need a starting pitcher so they might take Lilly and Ely. If Ely can pitch in Alba then maybe he can pitch in Petco.
Padres need a lot of help
Hitting 29th .231
Pitching 14th 3.94
Fielding 25th
Pipe-dreams for trades are fun. But reality, no team (or very few teams) will trade their key stars unless they will walk this winter. Especially key players under a multi-year contract.
Heck, the Dodgers did not really get serious about The Youkl . . . or they would have made a better offer than the White Sox.
Watching the College World Series. Key player: Alex Mejia, SS Arizona. Great hitter and great with the glove — drafted by the Cardinals, 4th round, 150th overall.

Key player: Refsnyder, RF Arizona. Only hitter with 2 HRs in the series (big park). Threw out a runner from deep right field to 3b. Great player – drafted by the Yankees.

Watched these two players several games — and I would take both of them right now, give them a uniform, and start them tomorrow in the lineup.
I won’t suggest any trades simply because I don’t think any of us has a clue as to what’s actually going on behind the scenes. Too many variables to consider. But for those inclined to, how about someone coming up with a multi-team deal involving three or more teams. After all, not all trades are between two teams only.
Every year Mark makes fantasy trade ideas, then a couple of other posters chime in with other ridiculous trade ideas……
..then they complain when Ned has to give up somebody pretty good in double AA for a reliever or some #7 hitter…which is what Castellanos or Shawn Tolleson or Jerry Sands will get you….just goes to show you half the people on this board don’t know half as much about baseball as they think they do….
good start to the giants series
i’m watching the kings/devils game 6 replay. dodger game is clearly over.
good call bobby
i settled for “worlds wildest police videos”….with the ever so present gamecast minimized on my laptop…..”just in case”…who am i kidding?
Nope.
It’s a good deal for them, but, that trade will never happen.
Keep trying.
Yeah, great start to this important series.
Quick, call up a long reliever from AAA.
This game is so bad I might watch the Bachelorette for a minute. Maybe someone scored over there.
love it!
loney, uribe and rivera gotta go. i’d rather give van slyke and sands an opportunity and wait for sellers to get back and unload on all three dudes. eat those three contracts. fans deserve better. ellis and kemp will be back too. dodgers need to pick up garza from the cubs. it will cost lee and some other prospects but so worth it. wait for fa and sign hamels. i was a season ticket holder until the mccourt drama started and embarrassed all dodgers fans. i will not go to a game until i see management and ownership do their part. we havent won since 88 and we are the 2nd most valuable franchise?? we shouldve bought a title by now.. jk. get the job done colletti
June Swoon.
June was also the worst month for the Dodgers in 2011.
When was it last year that people started asking for a new hitting coach?
Zach Lee promoted to AA. Anyone think he can get a call up in September?.
Call up? Maybe – if he pitchers well there. I think he is there so teams can see what kind of pitcher he really is. If this wasn’t just a hiccup for Eovaldi, who do we bring up? Ely is doing well at AAA. Maybe he has earned another shot. Don’t know who else down there would get Major League consideration. Martin at AA is getting people out. No timetable on Lilly, so, the trade for Garza makes as much sense as anything. This team goes nowhere without solid starting pitching. But, we also need at least one more good bat. Even with Kemp’s return, he and Ethier are not enough. btw, why was Ethier removed last night? Haven’t read the papers yet……….
5 hit shutout. 0 for 8 WRSIP – not that 4 for 8 would have made a difference last night. We got smoked.
Garza and lahair would make everything feel better
Well now, one of the worst playing team in all of baseball is still in first place in the N.L. West.
Vegas picks the Dodgers today, but not by much.
I too pick the Dodgers today. But, not by much.
I like this guy:

I just wanted to emphasize that the one who needs to go the most is Loney.
Look, he’s the one with the most at bats, over 215, that’s 3rd most on the team and only 2 homers with a .242 average. And he’s not getting paid nearly as much as what Uribe is, so simply moving Loney down to the minors where he belongs looks like the right option now. When Uribe was healthy this year he was a tiger and he would be the hardest to move with that big contract.
Let’s take things one step at a time, the priority is getting production from the 1st base position. What I believe goes on in the clubhouse is that Loney is such a model citizen, it makes it hard for them to cut him. I’m sorry, but professional management has to put their emotions aside and do what’s best for the team. I don’t see why they can’t just move Loney back down to the minors and try to get his head together there. He doesn’t make that much, does he?
Loney makes $6.3 million, Uribe makes $11 million this year doesn’t he. Twice that, so let’s hope they at least do something about Loney. At least Uribe looks like he’s doing something this year when healthy.
So dealing Uribe doesn’t even look like it would be an option. And when he’s out there this year he’s decent anyway.
Loney’s numbers have just been downright unacceptable. I don’t see why the club doesn’t have the guts to just send him to the minors and give someone else a shot.
