The Dodgers are the Milwaukee Brewers whipping boys and they whipped them like rented mules again. For the first time this year, the Dodgers lost 3 games in a row and also appear to have lost Matt Kemp… again! Why he injured his hammy again is the question. It is obviously not severe – if you get a grade 3 strain, you drop like you are shot. He has a grade 1 or grade 2 strain, but why he did it again is the big question. Proper hydration and diet as well as stretching are things that prevent hamstring injuries. The Dodger training staff need to address this with Matt.
Dave wrote this yesterday:
Steve Lyon just said Kemp’s 40-40 days are over. . .that a second hamstring injury following a recently rehabbed hamstring injury will never fully heal and will last the career of the player (I paraphrase)…is Lyon right? full of sh$t?
I think he is right about 40 stolen bases. Kemp shouldn’t even try. Insofar as hamstring injuries, I have seen sprinters with Grade 3 strains return to all their speed after rehab, so Lyons is full of it on that. Kemp will get an MRI today. Stay tuned. He could miss 3-4 weeks so as to allow complete healing.
I don’t think this one is serious – but he will probably go back on the DL. The Dodgers were 9-5 the last time he was out. The sky is not falling. Take a deep breath everyone. Next Man Up!
Alex Castellanos went 3-4 with a HR, double, 2 RBI and 2 SB’s last night at Albuquerque. How about re-calling him when Kemp is put back on the DL?
