Rant & Rave Friday

  • Garrett Wilson points out that Baseball-Reference has obviously deleted Ryan Brauns’ 2011 MVP deliberately.  At first, I was behind Ryan Braun, but after hearing all the sides, I still think he is a BIG FAT CHEATER!   He just got off.  That’s just my opinion and I’m sticking to it.  I support Baseball-Reference for their stand!
  • Most likely to be traded:  Ivan DeJesus, Jr.  If I were the Dodgers, I would be playing Alex Castellanos at 2B in AAA, this year.  I don’t think Junior can play SS, so he’s a candidate to be moved to a team that needs a 2B.  The Dodgers obviously have no confidence in him as they signed Hariston, Kennedy and Ellis over the winter, who are all 2B and seem intent on converting Castellanos to that position as well.  Mattingly say Ivan can hit (Translation, he can’t play defense).  I also wonder if the Dodgers might try Castellanos at 3B.  He has more experinece there.
  • It’s early, but it looks like Chad Billingsleys’ changes might be paying off.  If he could harness his potential, it would be a boon for the Dodgers.
  • The Dodgers could do a lot worse than Tony LaRussa as head of baseball operations.  Like him or not, he is smart!
  • Those who think Dee Gordon should not hit at the top of the order forget one thing – SPEED KILLS!  We saw it yesterday and you will see it a lot this year.
  • Gold & Hindery are appealing their denial as owners by MLB.  Yawn!
  • I must confess that I had hopes that Juan Uribe could hit his weight – at .083, he needs to drop some pounds, I guess.
  • FED-EX looks lost at the plate so far.
  • Todd Coffey should be fun to watch this year.
  • Who the heck is Lance Zawadzki – another 2B?
  • Darkhorses – Josh Fields & Corey Sullivan.
  • Doesn’t it look like Logan White is getting ready to punch Ken Gurnick?
