It was a nice way to start the season as the Dodgers beat the ChiSox 6-4. It’s just one game, so don’t go crazy but here’s my take:
- AJ Ellis looked good – Fed-Ex looked bad.
- Scott Van Slyke tuned some heads with his bat and glove. If we believe him when he says he wasn’t serious about baseball until last year, then he might just be a real sleeper. If he shows the same growth this year that he did last year, he’s going to be hard to keep at AAA and Jerry Sands will be pushed. Van Slyke could make Ethier expendable….except for that LH thing.
- C-Bill looked good in his first attempt to be more aggressive instead of nibbling. If this doesn’t work, I think he could have a future as a closer. I’m just saying…
- Josh Fields was 2-2. He has little chance of making the team, but hey… you never know.
I’m heading for Las Vegas until Friday (it’s business – really it is), so I will be off the grid until at least Saturday. I don’t have Jared to cover for me anymore. Hopefully, he’s doing well at Scout – I’m not a subscriber, does anyone read him regularly?
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!
