Final Score: Dodgers 4, D Backs 2
- Matt Kemp hit his 38th homer of the year, a bomb to dead center, to place himself just two blasts away from one of the most exclusive clubs in baseball history. He extends his RBI lead by notching 3 more, but is still trailing Jose Reyes by .010 points in the batting race, so 40/40 seems more possible than the Triple Crown right now.
- Speaking of hitting, Jerry Sands is now riding a 14 game hitting streak and batting .355 in September. This has to go a long way toward him competing for the left field job next year. Dee Gordon, who essentially has the shortstop job locked up, had two more hits and is hitting a robust .294. Still really needs to draw more walks, tho.
- Pitching was great up until the 6th, as Eveland spent a handful of inning flirting with a no-no/perfect game. Lindblom came in to save the day, followed by a perfect frame from Guerrier. Eovaldi couldn’t throw strikes and neither could Elbert. MacDougal allowed only 1 inherited runner to score, then Guerra recorded his 21st save.
- 2 for 3 with RISP and 3 left on base. Thank God the pitching has been good.
Game #160 will feature Hiroki Kuroda and Jarrod Parker. Kuroda has pitched well this season but is unsure about his future with the club, while Parker is making his major league debut and figures to be a mainstay in the D Backs’ rotation for the next decade. Game time is 6:40pm Pacific.
