Dodgers On A Roll

Final Score: Dodgers 8, Rockies 2

  • Yes, I guaranteed the win. Yes, I accept gifts. No, don’t ask me to do it every day. That makes it less valuable when I actually do it.
  • The Dodgers struck early, led by offensive stalwarts Rod Barajas and Tony Gwynn. As a matter of fact, only the 8 hole (Jamey Carroll) went hitless. 5 for 12 with RISP is very good, even if you leave 6 on base.
  • Kemp was ejected in the 9th after his third strikeout of the game. He only took 4 called strikes all night, with 1 being questionable. Hopefully this is a productive means of working thru some frustration, as he’s hit safely in his last 9 games but gone just 5 for his last 20 with no extra base hits and 10 strikeouts.
  • And how about that pitching? Kuroda with yet another quality start, then Guerrier, Elbert, MacDougal and Hawksworth lock it down. Major props to the staff when they hold the Rockies in Coors to just 2 runs.

Tomorrow’s matchup is Ted Lilly and Esmil Rogers. Lilly, who’s already allowed 26 homers this year, figures to have a major challenge ahead of him, while Rogers was lit up for 3 runs in 1 innings by the Dodgers in LA on July 25th. Game time is 1:10pm Pacific.
