Bats Power Dodgers To Sweep

Bats Power Dodgers To Sweep

Final Score: Dodgers 9, Cardinals 4

  • AJ Ellis hit his first major league home run in his first start in a month and a half. Juan Rivera adds to his Dodger magic with a homer and a double, while James Loney had 3 hits, including 2 doubles and has raised his average by .017 since Saturday. Not bad.
  • Kuroda gave the Dodgers a much needed quality start in the sweltering heat. He has finally started getting run support, as the offense has contributed 24 runs in his last 3 starts.
  • 5 for 9 with RISP with 7 left on base. I’m sure this recent outburst will be mitigated by LA’s bats getting shutout several times in the next few weeks.

After a day off, the Dodgers are home for a weekend set with the Rockies. Ted Lilly faces Esmil Rogers in the opener. Lilly’s last start was against the Rockies, tho he couldn’t get thru the 5th inning because of a stiff neck (insert homers allowed joke here). Rogers started that game as well, allowing 12 hits but just 4 runs thru 6 innings. Game time is 7:10pm Pacific.

Maybe the sudden outburst of offense is a way for the players to tell us how happy they are to see Dioner Navarro gone. Or maybe the Cardinals just stink.

When I saw you say the ‘s” word before todaya game and I looked at the lineup a dirrenert 4 letter word came to mind!!! I guess they will finsish 10 games under .500,

Wow, I’m sorry about that last post. I guess I shouldn’t post things right before I go to bed when I am tired. What I meant to say is it looks like they have been hovering around 10 games under .500 for a while now. I looked up the Dodgers record for July and August to this point and they been 1 over .500 so if they play .500 ball the rest of the way they will end up about 10 games under .500. Of course now that they got rid of some dead weight and some of the younger guys performing well they may end up a closer to .500.
