Final Score: Rockies 5, Dodgers 3
- Gritty performance by Billingsley, though he was done in by homers. The 5 walks really came back to bite him too, as two of them came into score. Kuo did a great job of striking out Helton in the 8th.
- If James Loney never plays another game outside of Coors I think he’d be a happy man. 4 for 4, a triple short of the cycle. 3 of his 6 home runs this season have come in Colorado.
- Matt Kemp also had a nice day, collecting his 25th double and a single. His average is up to .322, third in the NL.
- The rest of the offense went 2 for 26. The team was 1 for 7 with RISP and left 6 runners on base. I honestly expected more today.
Now it’s off to St Louis where Nathan Eovaldi will go up against Chris Carpenter. Eovaldi was a tough luck loser last time out, giving up just 2 runs in 6 innings. Carpenter last pitched against the Dodgers on April 17 and worked 7 scoreless innings, tho ended up with a no decision in the loss. Game time is 5:15pm Pacific.

We should trade Loney to the Rockies. It is the only place he seems to live up to his offensive potential.
Have not checked the figures, but who is doing better since the All-Star break: Loney or Ethier???
Other than Kershaw and his personal quest for 20 wins . . . the entire team is terrible.
Dodgers now in last place again. S.D. is hot.
