  1. Roger Dodger says:

Nice Mark. I can smell the grass now. I mean the grass on the field.

I kind of hope that the Dodgers do make a deal for Michael Young. Then they have a lot of options and could even unload Casey Blake if a team needs a 3b/DH.

    Mark, the package just arrived.

  2. Bill Russell says:

Nice write up Mark. As the late Michael Jackson once sang “I’ll be there”. Roger, “the package just arrived?” Code? Same as I got the goods? My dates are March 18, 19, and 20th……….

  3. Jaydavis says:

    I’ll be there march 3rd

  4. DRomo says:

    I’ll be there March 4th &5th! I can’t wait!!

Great tips here Mark, Thanks. My question is: Is it best to go for BP? Then stick around for the game? How do you spring training vets do it? When do you go and what do you do when you get there?

I want to make te most of the trip!

    • Mark_Timmons says:

I generally like to get there around 9 ish and browse – you want to check out the back (minor league) diamonds and the batting cages. You just never know who you will see. Arrive early – stay late.

  5. Captain Loose says:

As you know, I live 2 hours from Phoenix, so I will take in some games, but not at Camelback. I refuse to put money in McDipwads’s bank account. I’ll check the schedule and take in a game in Scottsdale.

Great article posted over at MSTI on Kemp’s new diet and apparent new attitude.

If he can finally get it together the Dodgers just might have a legit #4 hitter. Still no 2 hole hitter, and still issues at the bottom, but the middle of this order just might be able to keep the Dodgers from being shut-out so often.

    • Mark_Timmons says:

If you take in a road game, you will still put $$$ in McCourt\’s pockets because the Dodgers get part of the gate receipts. There is also a pretty good chance you have seen the last Dodger game of your life unless you soften your stance. I personally don\’t think McCourt is going away.

  6. Captain Loose says:

I know what you think Mark. You have made that clear. If he stays, then, as John Boner, likes to say “So be it”.

I have seen hundreds of games. I can live without them. Sometimes you just have to draw the line in the sand and say “enough!”

  7. RogerCraig says:

I wonder if Frank McCourt is really any different than most of the other owners. Who really knows?

  8. Roger Dodger says:

McCourt should have purchased the Royals, or Pirates, or some other team — but not one of the two or three or four biggest mega marketing expensive teams in the majors. He cannot keep up.

  9. Captain Loose says:

Roger Dodger is right. I just don’t really understand how a guy who could not afford the franchise was allowed to get into it so leveraged. Was it because everyone was fooled by the real estate bubble? This guy was turned down three times in his effort to purchase other franchises – but he gets his hands on the Dodgers?

Mr. Craig…. I am sure other franchise owners are as unlikeable as ours, but for different reasons. None of them would piss on us if we were on fire, but at least they are all uber rich. Our guy has borrowed his way to the top. Now he gets to divide half his ass-ets with his equally invidious ex-wife. The FrankenJamie Freak Show goes on for another year or so.

There will be baseball to watch everywhere I look this year. I will follow the Dodgers like I always do. I can go to Dback games and see all the best teams in the NL. The Inter-League schedule doesn’t look all that interesting to me, maybe the Twins, but, the Phillies, Giants, and Braves all come to town, so I can head down and root against them.
