From multiple unsubstantiated sources it comes that Nick Green will not make the team. That leaves a few choices and it’s easy for me to pick one.
- Chin-lung Hu
- Xavier Paul
- Russ Ortiz
- AJ Ellis
So, I would pick….
Doug Mientkiewicz!
Tommy said it’s OK!
LADodgerTalk.com – Matt Kemp, Clayton Kershaw, Vin Scully, Andre Ethier and the Dodgers

It looks like it’s Russ Ortiz. UGH!
Hu, Ellis and Paul all shipped out to AAA.
Russ Ortiz – You can thank Bills and his lousey performance which helps to prove to Torre that 12 pitchers are needed for the entire year.
Bils had a poor outing for sure but I think 12 pitchers to start was inevitable. Kuo with a sore elbow, Sherrill in a state of shambles, Belisario being Belisario in minor league camp, Monasterios just out of single A, both Ortizs on comeback trail, Troncoso might be straightened out, Jonathan’s velocity down. It will take a while to get things sorted out so right now we need quite a few arms. I doubt Russ Ortiz will be around that long but you never know what will happen.
GO DODGERS!!
“after Saturday’s final exhibition game against the Angels, non-roster pitcher Russ Ortiz was in his suit heading for the team bus to the airport and the charter flight to Pittsburgh, while non-roster infielder Nick Green was in jeans and preparing for a trip to Triple-A Albuquerque.”
“Torre announced before the game that right-handed reliever Carlos Monasterios made the opening-day roster, but he wouldn’t say until Sunday whether that roster would include 11 pitchers or 12. If it is 12, the team probably would go with Russ Ortiz for the final spot. If it is 11, Nick Green probably would be signed as a backup shortstop. But it seemed that Ortiz was the choice, since he said he was joining the team in Pittsburgh while Green said he would not be. … Shortstop Chin-lung Hu, outfielder Xavier Paul and catcher A.J. Ellis were reassigned to the minor leagues after the game.”
Nick Green said he would “not be.” Is that because Joe told him he would “probably” be going to AAA? Sounds like they know, but aren’t really saying anything to the media. It is going to be 12 arms, and the Dogs will need ever one of them.
When asked about the rocket that Morales raked off the video screen at the loge level in right field Bills, who threw 2 2/3 innings giving up 6 runs, said -”It was a breaking ball I left up” in the strike zone “You can’t do that.”
Really Chad? You can’t hang breaking balls to Major League hitters with the bases loaded? Yeah, he’s ready.
Release the kraken! This team is going to chew up the National League!
Go Dodgers!
