In 1987, I was framed for a crime I did not commit, demanded a jury trial, and after all my witnesses were silenced (prevented from testifying), while the jury was out, and we knew we
were beat, the prosecution offered me a suspended sentence if I would plead guilty. My attorney told me that if I didn’t take it, I would get 40 years! I said “NO!” Actually, I said “Hell No!”
The Judge gave me 40 years, and 7 and a half years later, after studying the law and acting as my own attorney, I had the conviction overturned and literally had handcuffs and shackles removed as I walked out of the courtroom to my freedom. And then yesterday, someone had the stupidity to say that Frank McCourt bought me for some passes to Dodger games? You didn’t sign your name when you posted it , but you sir, are a genuine dumb-ass! If I wouldn’t take a plea bargain to stay out of prison, do you really think a $50 ticket could buy me? You are an IDIOT!
Now, that I have that out of the way, I will say this:
I have started a business on a shoestring. I had no business making it. I had no money. I had to make that next sale. I had to convince the next prospect to do business with me. I had no hourly wage. There was no Obama “bailout plan.” It was all on me. I didn’t lie, but I made US Water look like the biggest, baddest, best company in the world, when it was only me and my wife working out of our garage. Do you have a job? Good for you! Have you ever started a business from scratch? Do you know what it feels like when on Thursday, you don’t have enough for payroll on Friday? Do you know what it’s like to pay your employees and not be able to pay yourself? Do you know what it’s like to not have enough money for groceries?
16 years ago, I walked out of a courtroom with just the clothes I was wearing. I was 40, with no criminal record, but I was unemployable. Who the hell would hire me? I had to make it on my own. And so I did!
Frank McCourt is way over-leveraged. There’s no doubt about it. I would not have done it that way, but a part of me knows what he is about and I respect him for it. I root for him. Will he make it?
I don’t know. I can only hope.
I made it against all odds! NO ONE. NO ONE! NO ONE in the history of American Jurisprudence who had “significant” prison time has ever taken on the State and won their freedom. I did! I’m the only one! Look it up!
So, don’t tell me something can’t be done…
especially when you have never attempted it!
Miracles do happen! I created one…
Life is good!
Do you really think what is happening to the Dodgers is bad?
Someday, I’ll tell you about “bad.”
