THE ALBUQUERQUE ISOTOPES AAA
The Isotopes nip New OLreans 9-8.
Our man with the dancing finger tip ball went 6 innings yesterday, but the game was not a “quality start” and I’m sure CHARLIE would like us all to just forget it even happened. HAEGER (4.09), went 6 innings and gave up 7 earned runs on 10 hits, 4 BBs and 3 Ks. Personally, I’ll blame it on the 6th inning of the all star game in which e would have pitched flawlessy but for giving up a gopher ball. THREETS (1.57) followed with a perfect inning of relief as did SCHLICTING (1.08). STRICKLAND (BS, 2, W, 1-1, 1.98), managed to both blow the same and earn the victory–a feat you don’t see very often these days. He went 1 inning, gave up 1 run (earned) on 2 hits, 1 walk and 0 strikeouts.
HARPER (.276), MAZA (.287), REPKO (.253), BROWN (.295), and JONES (.283) all smacked doubles.
MAZA went 3-5 with a BB.JONES, HARPER (.276), and HU (.261) all had 2 hit games.
THE CHATTANOOGA LOOKOUTS AA
The Lookouts lose to Carolina 2-1 in a rain shortened game.
CHICK (L, 6-5, 3.30), pitched 5 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and 5 Ks. BATISTA (2.17) finished up the last inning allowing 0 runs on 0 hits, 1 walk and 0 Ks.
MAY hit his 9th double. There were no multi-hit games by any Lookout player.
THE INLAND EMPIRE 66ERS A ADVANCED
Rancho Cucamonga beat our beloved 66ers 7-5.
ONLY KUO (0.00), and KREBS (3.97), pitched well enough to warrant a mention here–and they each pitched 1 inning of shutout ball.. Everybody else stank to high heaven.
No 66er hit one out. VAN SLYKE whacked his 29th double. HERRERA (.320),went 2-3 with 2 walks.
BAEZ (.323), went 2-5.
THE GREAT LAKES LOONS A
The Loonies edged Cedar Rapids 2-1.
BLEVINS (W, 7-7, 3.95), pitched magnificently for a change going 8 innings and giving up just 1 run (earned) on 4 hits, 1 walk, while striking out 6. SMITH (S, 2, 3.13) then got the last 3 outs for his 2nd save by striking out all 3 batters he faced.
BUSS (.29) cracked his 7th homer of the season. WALLACH (.243) smacked his 16th double. Only DELMONICO had a 2 hit game for the Loons.
