TOM O’SHEAS’ MINOR LEAGUE REPORT             7-9-09

BREAKING NEWS:
KUO returns to the Isotopes and pitches 1 inning in relief!  (See below.)

THE OGDEN RAPTORS     ROOKIE   250px-dodgers_logo

The Raptors nip Great Falls 4-3.

Although the Raptors got very mediocre performances from WALLACH (0.00), and CASTILLO (5.00),  over the first 5 innings, they received near perfect pitching from their pen over the last 4 innings in which they gave up just one hit and no walks over that stretch.  A Colbert “tip of the cap” to:  THOMPSON (W, 1-0, 9.45), SUITER (H, 1-0, 7.36),  and RONDON (S, 3, 1.29), for pitching “lights out” last night.

ERICKSON (.340), and McGEE (.214), whacked doubles.

CAVAZOS-GALVEZ (.275), ERICKSON, and ORR (.257), all had 2 hit games for the Raptors.

THE ALBUQUERQUE ISOTOPES  AAA

Memphis beats Isotopes 4-2.

ALVARADO (L, 6-7, 3.43), gave the Isotopes a quality start–going 7 runs and giving up 1 earned run on 8 hits, 1 BB and 3 Ks.  KUO (9.00) returned to the team after being shut down with arm problems almost all season and gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit and 1 walk in 1 inning of work.  This is a hopeful sign for our troubled bullpen.

BROWN (.305), hit his 16th home run.  ABREU (.239) hit his 4th double.  BROWN went 3-4 with 1 walk for the only multi-hit game for the Isotopes.

THE CHATTANOOGA LOOKOUTS      AA

Huntsville blanks the Lookouts 3-0.

DURBIN (L, 1-3, 2.42), took the loss after giving up 3 earned runs in 5 innings.  RODRIGUEZ (3.33), GUERRA (3.18), and SARTOR (3.28) combined to pitch shut out ball the rest of the way.

BELL (.275), and SELLERS (.297), both hit their 21st doubles.  NIVAR (.413), chipped in with his 9th 2-bagger.  The Lookout team had no multi-hit players yesterday.

THE INLAND EMPIRE 66ERS       A     ADVANCED

Lake Elsinore (who else?), shuts out the 66ers 1-0.

WITHROW (L, 1-0, 4.86), PFEIFFER (.386), KREBS (3.86), and PRADO (2.91),  pitched an excellent game holding the Lake Elsinore team to just 1 run.

ROBINSON (.296) and BAEZ (.288) both went 2-4 on the night.

THE GREAT LAKES LOONS       A

Loons lose to Peoria 4-2.

ETHAN MARTIN (L, 4-4, 4.64), and NATHAN EOVALDI (3.80), each pitched 4 innings.  EOVALDI gave up just 1 run on 4 hits and 0 walks while fanning 3.  MARTIN stunk.

SILVERIO whacked his 6th homer.  WALLACH drilled his 15th double..  DELMONICO (.266) went 2-4.
