Although nothing is probably imminent, it could be part of a plan to have him ready, just in case.I would have to be overwhelmed to trade Martin. A.J. Ellis has a great arm, and shows promise with the bat. But he's 28 years old, and unproven with the bat above AAA. There are no other catchers in the Dodger organization even close to the big leagues. Carlos Santana might have been close (but at least a year or two away), but we traded him in order to save $2 million (top amateur prospects get at least as much) on Casey Blake.
