Just to tie up some loose ends, Mark. I am looking on the Dodger.com site of yesterday’s box score, and I see LOB, Martin = 9. You have a box score and it list: 7. I did not watch every pitch of the game to remember how many runners were on when he was up, but the severeal I did see, there were a lot of Dodgers out there.
Now to the positive of yesterday’s loss.
1) Kershaw went 5 full innings giving up only 2 hits and getting 6 Ks. He threw alot of pitches, but he was there.
2) Belisario went 2 inings, with 4 Ks, 1 hit. He seems like gold, so far.
3) Ethier was on base 5 times. 2 singles, 2 walks, and getting hit by a pitched ball. He is our pitch taker.
4) Hudson and Kemp also had two hits each.
Having a tough day at the office:
A) DeWitt, 0 for 4.
B) Manny 0 for 3, and failed in the ninth.
C) Martin, 1 for 5, leaving on 9 runners.
D) Loney, 0 for 3.
E) Blake, 0 for 3, with 3 Ks.
F) 2 of the last 3 relievers, failed: Ohman and Wade
Also, almost every team has a strong closer. The Dodgers cannot wait around till the 9th inning to try and score runs to win a game. Really really really tough then.
Also yesterday, toooooo many runners left on base.
Oh, maybe Martin should have tried a squeez in the 9th. Maybe. But at least tried harder to go the other way. Not to the SS. He was flying open with his shoulders and legs to pull the ball, over the fence — to be the hero. Maybe he will tomorrow.
I got 7 from the lineup I posted on the post below this one. That one was the offial MLB one and it said 7. That’s where I got 7. It was right on the Dodgers’ website.
I just went back and checked an it now says “9.” Since I just “copied and pasted” it from the Dodgers site (last night), I assume that they changed it.
Wow! Martin is worse than I thought. He should be shot at sunrise!
none of the dodger ever chocks up on the bat..even david exstien does it ..mainly when run are in scoreing position. the dodger all try to hit for power..we are leaving run in scoreing position just like last yr…i blame that on the dodgers coaching staff…where is the fundmental..
Jerry, you are talking or referring to the “old” fundmentals — there are “new” fund. now — cream the cowhide. Make it scream. Hit the ball over the wall, or at least off of it.
If I were managing last nigth, in the 9th, runners on 1st & 3rd, one out, try a bunt. Speed at 3rd, Hudson. Unless he pops it up trying to bunt, only one at, probably at 1st base, but game is tied — Ethier at 2nd base, with Loney up. I’ll take that chance.
I neither judge him to be sane or insane, sincere or insincere, but I do know that – Often charming and glib, sociopaths know how to play whatever role they need to play to get what they want. Many can cry crocodile tears on cue, but it’s all superficial, an act. There’s just no there there. No depth of character. Everything they do is calculated to deliver the goods, and just like our pal Niccolo Machiavelli — the ends utterly justify the means. If someone gets hurt in the process, too bad. The sociopath has no conscience, so carries no guilt or remorse for his actions.
I just do not know what to think about him and will not come to any conclusion either way. I will remain in a state of wondering.

Belisario should be our closer! He has the best stuff I’ve ever seen coming from a non-starter.

I second that Mr Ken.
Do you think he was crying over lost commissions?
