Merry Christmas to all. Here on the east coast of Canada we have a white-green Christmas. The rain last night took much of our snow so we have green grass and some white snow. Here’s hoping Santa came to the Dodgers and we don’t know about it yet. That would make it a blue Christmas.

    GO DODGERS in 2009!!!!

  2. Mark says:

We have no snow here. An ice storm hit Tuesday and then it rained yesterday as the temperature went up to almost 60. As I sip my coffee this AM it is 16 degrees below freezing (16 degrees).

I too want a Blue Christmas!

  3. Badger says:

Here in red rock country it rained a bit but is supposed to be mid 50′s with sun for next week. Everything is washed off, the junipers and pinyon pines are a brilliant green, the rocks are crimson against a bright blue sky. All is well on the edge of the Colorado Plateau.

Hope Santa was good to all of you.

Also hope he delivers a power hitter and a front line starter to the Dodgers.

    Merry Christmas!!!! Happy Holidays

  5. Bill Russell says:

Here, 60 miles east of L.A., it’s supposed to rain hard all day but it hasn’t really started yet. It’s predicted that the wildfire areas may have to evacuate due to mud slides. The temperature is currently around 50 degree’s with a slight drizzle.

    Merry Christmas Everyone.

I am hoping Santa delivers our power hitter.

  6. Mark says:

    Matt Kemp – 32 HR’s next year!

  7. Badger says:

Does HR stand for hemorhoids removed? If that’s the case, maybe. If you are talking about home runs, I got a 100 that says he doesn’t hit 30. I hope he is at the gym everyday and I am proven wrong. We need the power and I need the work-out.

  8. Bill Russell says:

Wow 32 Hemi’s removed. No wonder he’s been walking funny.

  9. Slo Dawg says:

BRuss….Where do you live? I am about 50 miles east of LA. I have been visting this site for over a year and enjoy the ideas and opinions you guys share. I saw my first Dodger game in 1959 in the Coliseum. Dodgers vs the Braves! I have been a fan ever since. THis is the best site on the web…..

Happy Holidays to all you guys!

  10. Bill Russell says:

In picking my NFL games this week I have a few big dilema’s I need help with.

Any help would be greatly apprecated

    KC at Cinn
Toilet Bowl here (anything one way or another?)

Giants at Minn. Minn must win and Giants have clinched- Giants didn’t rest their players after clinching last year.

    Washington at the 49ers
    No clue

    Miami at the Jets
    Will Bret will a victory?

    Tenn at the Colts
Colts at home are tuff but Tenn may be able to pick apart Indy’s defense.

I am currently tied for 5th in the NFL pool I play in and need to move up. Please help with any advice you can give as the money gets better the higher up you go…..

  11. Bill Russell says:

Riverside , bordering Corona. Nice to have you in here Slo Dawg

  12. Slo Dawg says:

Thanks….I live in Rancho Cucamonga….home of the Angels single A team…..I hate it!!!!Too many Angel fans around these parts for my liking!!!

Good luck on your NFL picks. Wish I could help but I don’t know too much about football since the Rams left!!

    Off to see Santa!!!

  13. lawdog says:

Go with Cinncy if you still have time to bet. The’ve been on a two game winning streak and one of those team was a good one.

Wash will beat the farty whiners

    Giants over Minn,

Miami over Jets. Jets have been faltering.

Tenn over Colts. Tenn is probably the best team out there.

IO’m in a pool with 2,155 other folks and have been in the top 50 most of the year. Not good enough to win anything–but good enough for top 3% ran king most of the way.

  14. Bill Russell says:

Is Miami a warm weathered team Lawdog? Can they play in the snow?

I agree with Wash and Tenn but was just reading Mike Dick Ka’s picks and he’s taking KC over Cinn for some reason. I’m not putting any weight on KC because of Mikey but just wondering why he would take them on the road. I am still have mixed thoughts on Minn.
    Thanks for your help.

  15. Mark says:

KC at Cinn – Look for Cincy to implode at home – KC by 12

Giants at Minn – Giants by 3

    Washington at the 49ers – 49′ers by 6

Miami at the Jets – Dolphins by 7

Tenn at the Colts – Colts will rest many players – Tenn by 12

  16. Mark says:

    Slo Dawg,

Thanks for the props. Welcome to the board.

We’ll try and get better next year…

  17. Bill Russell says:

Thanks for the pick advice Mark but we can’t get any better in here. We are already the best….

  18. lawdog says:

All I want for Christmas is Manny and Sheets!

Good article posted on another blog–(WorldCrossing DodgrerTalk 13.)

I can’t believe the Yanks have invested over 800 million lucky bucks in A-rod, Jeter, CC and Tex, 4 guys–over $800.000.000.00

AJ burnet cost them, what? At least another $100,000,000. That puts them less than a hundred grand away from a cool billion dollars for 5 guys.

The good news is that it means we’ll sign Manny–if Frank, Ned and his perverted cousin Fred don’t get too greedy and diss the man. He needs at least the two year deal with a vesting third. Actually the two year deal for $45 M would work with a vesting year for an additional 22.5 M if the deal had a 8 miilion dollar bonus at the end ala Furcal. Everybody saves face and we have a team that will be a contender not a pretender. The third year probably won’t vest if it requires a .300 average and 30 homeruns, but Manny’s ego is so huge he’ll believe he can make the nut and we’ll have him for two years for 25.5 M (which is slightly more than he made with Bosox last year.

I’m happier than a pig in mud that just discovered it can fly! (That’s provided we go get Sheets as well.)

    Thanks for the info Duck.

    Merry Christmas everybody!

  19. Mark says:

I keep telling you that we won’t sign any Type A Free Agents who require us to give up a pick. No Question!

  20. lawdog says:

Bruss–I picked Cinn last week too because as bad as they’ve been, they still have some good players and they started to play like the contender they were in years back the game before last. I was the only one in my pool that has picked what was a 1-11 team two weeks in a row and won both time with 14 winners. Only two times this year I’ve run the board with more than 13 winners.

What’s hard is figuring out where the upset or two that you know will happen every week is actually going to happen. Fortunately for me I’ve picked Detroit and St. Louis to loose every game this year and only been wrong twice. ;roll:

KC, on the other hand, has been lousy for as long as I can remember and couldn’t beat their way out of a paper bag. I’ve always bet them to lose this year and have been happy with the results.

The only way KC wins today is if they give the refs some of that TARP money available from the Bank of Badger!

Miami vs. Jets is a tougher call. But Miami is an very good, very young team that will be even better next year. The Jets were toilet material last year and played way over their collective heads for Favre most of the year–but I think they’ve hit that proverbial wall. Maybe Miami suddenly realizes where they are in the standings and chokes on the road–but I woouldn’t bet on it. Favre couldn’t carry the tram on his back this late in the seasoneven if he tries. Too many cumulative minor injuries to play up to the level the young team will show them.

  21. Badger says:

You guys make the deposits, I’ll bribe the refs. They are easy.

Good day today. Dinner with friends and the Lakers kicked ass. Life is good.

I haven’t had any luck with most of the NFL, but I have bet against the Rams all year and won. They suck.

OK, time for some of that G.M. stuff Jed.

  22. Mark says:

The Lakers looked very good today.

I think the NBA Finals will be determined by who is injured the least.

  23. Bill Russell says:

Just got in from the inlaws. Great Laker game today. The boys in Purple and Gold really shined.
They made us L.A. fans very happy and shut down the 19-0 Bean town boys win streak. So Sorry Kevin, Ray and Paul. Rondo took a shot to the head from Pau or should we say Pow Gasol…. Peace and Joy to all………

  24. Badger says:

I keep waiting for the Celtics older guys to slow down, but they look darn good to me. I agree with mover, and hope that both teams are at full strength come play-off time.

Rondo took a shot, looked like he was going to die right on the court. I was waiting for the wheel chair to carry him off so he could make the Celtic miracle come back in 3 minutes or so. No wheel chair but miraculously, he did get up and play right away. Got to give it to those Celtics, they can come back from season ending injuries faster than than a zapped cat.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and all are healthy and happy.

How many days ’til pitchers and catchers?
