A couple of days ago, Jon Heyman of SI.COM wrote this:
“One person who’s spoken to Dodgers people suggested that the team is considering proposing a contract that may come close to matching Alex Rodriguez’s record $27.5-million average annual salary but on a much shorter term, perhaps only two years. That person hinted he could see the Dodgers even exceeding A-Rod’s salary, as long as the length of the deal was to their liking.”
Now, everyone thinks that means the Dodgers are negoitating with Manny. Note what Heyman wrote:
“One person who’s spoken to Dodgers people suggested that the team is considering… ” and “that person hinted…”
In other words he said:
“A person said they talked to someone who knows someone and they didn’t really say anything substantive, but I’m going to run with it anyway because it’s a slow day and Dodger Junkies eat this stuff up!”
WAKE UP PEOPLE! THE DODGERS ARE NOT NEGOITATING WITH MANNY RIGHT NOW!
Heyman is a straight-up fish hack!

I have talked to, and had to listen to, plenty of people who say nothing substantive, so the fact that the Dodgers may or may not be negotiating with Manny is clearly ambiguous and by that standard positively nearly believable.
What?
