After 2 games with the ‘Backs, we are dead even in runs scored and wins. There is a fine line between success and failure. Brandon Webb vs. D-Lowe. Do we want it? It’s there for the taking. Losing a series or wining a series comes down to today!
Lineup:
- RF Kemp
- LF Ethier
- C Martin
- 2B Kent
- SS Garciaparra
- 1B Loney
- CF Jones
- 3B DeWitt
- RH Lowe
May the force be with us!

And another great start.
Maza for Osuna? OK, I suppose that is an upgrade. Not gonna make a bit of difference, but, it’s a move. Maybe Osuna tells better jokes on the bench.
Hey, that Brandon Webb is a pretty good pitcher.
Who knew?
It’s a fricken miracle. Live by the Kemp and Die by the Kemp.. Great come back
We could make some ground after this series! We go to Colorado and the Cubies come to Arizona…Hopefully we can win 2 of 3 from the Rockies and the Cubies just come in and blow the D-Backs away.
What a shot from Either! HR in any place but Zona!
Great comback!
Best game I never seen. Blacked out for me so I had to do the the gameday thing. Mikey likes it.
Mikey like pudding? Oh wait, that’s Gary;)
I saw every pitch, every play.
Good news bad news. Good news – Lyon was off again and the Dbacks d failed them in the 9th. Bad news – Webb handled us like we were swinging lead bats. Haren/Webb better than Bills/Lowe this week. We still have problems with the little things – bunts, hit and runs etc..
But, as we all know, it’s a team game and the snakes blew it. Drew with a huge bobble on Jones’ easy DP ball. (Gee there’s a surprise, Jones hitting a weak grounder in the clutch) and Lyon was throwing his fastball right down main street.
Great comeback though. 2 game swing in one inning. Could be a boost.
Ozuna can run. That might could help.
You are right. We should do well in Colorado and the Dbacks just threw their 3 best starters at us. Cubs might make hay in the desert.
Viva la Blue.
great comeback, Arizona has no bullpen, I wont be surprised if they go after Street. Dodger’s needed this win.. man I’m happy…
Great win. The five runs in the ninth must be a tremendous confidence builder. Nomar got us started – then hits by Loney, LaRoche, Kemp, Ethier, Martin. Of greater importance, we scored four of those with two out. Kind of deflating for Arizona as we came close to sweeping them at home.
I was really pulling for Russell to hit a HR but not just for two runs. LaRoche – single Kemp – double
Ethier – triple We needed a homerun to hit for the cycle with four consecutive batters.
In any event, we have to keep it going against the Rockies. TJ Simers writes that the over/under for Rockie runs against Stults and Johnson is 16 and he is betting over. Whatever TJ – you may be correct. If so we just have to outscore them. Johnson is a bit unknown now since his last MLB stint. However, I like Stults and really hope he can have a good big league career. Read that Kershaw might just make that start in Colorado on Tuesday as Johnson was available to pitch today.
Tell me again why we should trade Matt Kemp. DON’T TRADE MATT KEMP!!!!!!! And another thing – Ethier with a soft triple to the deepest part of the park in the ninth and throws out a runner. Just kidding Mark.
We can compete with Webb/Haran but on a usual day, our pitchers have to hold the D’backs to fewer than three runs
and we have to be patient enough to run them out of pitches by the seventh or eighth inning.
I have called Ethier soft for a few days…
although he was yesterday.
That was a shot though!
Leave us not get too excited about this win. Drew dropped a sure double play ball 3′ from second base picked it up and was still able to get Jones at first. Lyon got the next out. If Drew makes that routine play, we lose 4-2. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Tonight, we were both. We could use both right now, and in the weeks to come.
Simers may be right about what is about to happen in Colorado. I keep waiting for the Rockies to wake up, but, so far, let sleeping rocks lie.
Go Dogs!
We were in the ballpark almost 2 hours before game time. Walked around a bit. Went down the right field line and took some pictures. Broxton was signing for fans.
Duncan had a man and his kids (friends) giving them presigned baseballs. Then moved down to the doughout seats for a long chat with them.
Noticed that between that area and the players seats, was a long bench with TV screen, about 4 or 5, up. Do not know who they are for? Officials, writers, staff, announcers, umps, etc.
I took some picture of these scenes, and more – - – will send them to Mark when I returen, and he can post them if he wants to.
For the first 8 complete innings, it was the D-Backs ball game all of the way. Then in the 9th inning the Dodgers came alive. Kemp was something on his hit; he really hung in there. Ethier’s was a blast. Martin creamed the ball up the midddle. You know the rest of the game.
During the game I could see many Dodger blue hats, jerseys, shirts all over the place, here and there. Then in the 9th inning it happened. Dodger fans started cheering, “Lets go Dodgers…” and almost downing out the, “Beat LA” chant. Dodger fans were almost all standing all over the place. Looking at one another.
As folks were leaving, all Dodger fans gave high 5′s to each other, nods, hand shakes, etc. on leaving. A number came over to where I was and did so with me.
Remember, I was wearing my Jackie Robinson, Brooklyn jersey. One guy came up to me walking out, and he was wearning a Robinson t-shirt, and pointing at mine said: “With you and me here today, Jackie was IN THE HOUSE.”
Also, between almost every inning the D-Backs run the time slots there, like minor leagues do, with kids doing stuff, contests, prizes, etc. Fun, but I am not used to seeing major league teams do that all game long.
It was a Dodger day, that is in the 9th inning. We stole that game from them.
The DP ball made up for a couple of the balls hit hard that were caught Saturday. It evens out!
