12-06-07 - Ned Gets Scott Boras to Blink
Ned’s hard line at 2 years for Andruw Jones proved worthwhile as the Devil blinked and Ned signed a Gold Glove CF and middle-of-the-order bat in one fell swoop! According to the LA TIMES, Jones signed a 2 year/$36.2 million contract. Now, how smart does Arte Moreno look? Good things come to those who wait. You can pencil Jones in at #5 (his BA is too low to be in the #3 or #4 spot), and he should produce 30-40 HR there for us (maybe more if he’s motivated for one more big contract in two years). I like the signing. I like the fact that Ned stuck to his plan and I like the fact that we haven’t traded away any key young players. That said, another trade is brewing - I feel it!
