10/01/07 - After Further Review - Little & Colletti Stay…
Read it and Weep - LA TIMES
McCourt said: “If you can guarantee me that we’ll cut payroll and win, I’ll cut payroll,” he said. “If you can guarantee me that we’ll increase payroll and win, we’ll increase. When you look at the teams ahead of us and look at the payrolls, there’s not a correlation.”
As I stated yesterday, I will talk about the pitching for 2008. I think you just have to decide who you want and who you don’t want. That’s easy: I don’t want Tomko (oh, he’s already gone), Hendrickson, Hernandez, Houlton, Stultz and Hill to be on our Opening Day roster next year. Houlton, Hull and Stultz should be AAA players. Meloan? His 11+ ERA might indicate he’s not ready.
Brazoban should be back.
Kuo might be back (for how long).
Schmidt better be back!
Wolf might be back (with an incentative laden contract - HEY he wants to play here).
Beimel will most likely be back.
Who WILL be back:
Penny
Billingsley
Broxton
Saito
Proctor
That leaves seven, count ‘em 7, spots open.
Loaiza is on the roster right now.
Kershaw should be ready by July… or sooner!
Ditto James McDonald!
Meloan? Maybe! He didn’t impress with hs 11 ERA down the stretch however!
Rudy Seanez has to be considered - He ate a lot of innings as a mop up guy!
I left Lowe off because I think he could be trade bait.
Ditto Loaiza!
A rotation of Schmidt, Penny, Billingsley, Santana and Wolf would be nice!
Just don’t trade Kemp or Kershaw to get Johan.
I am going to take a few days off to rest up from this dissapointing season. Unless something astounding happens, I’ll be back October 10, 2007 after the AFL starts.
